چکیده

Introduction: Y-DOTATyr3octreotide (Y-DOTATOC) therapy targets tumour cells expressing somatostatin receptors and induces tumour apoptosis and necrosis. However, assessment of treatment response using conventional imaging criteria is unreliable because treatment may induce disease stabilization rather than disease regression, and disease can also be slow to regress despite clinical benefits [1]. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) derived by diffusion-weighted MR imaging (DW-MRI) is being evaluated as a biomarker for tumour response to anti-cancer treatment. Tumour ADC is expected to increase as a result of tissue apoptosis or necrosis. However, the value of DW-MRI for assessing the treatment effects of Y-DOTATOC treatment, in patients with neuroendocrine liver metastases is unknown.

Hypo-Vascular Liver Metastases Treated with Transarterial chemoembolization: Assessment of Early Response by Volumetric Contrast-Enhanced and Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging1

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the value of anatomic and volumetric functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in early assessment of response to trans-arterial chemoembolization (TACE) in hypovascular liver metastases. METHODS This retrospective study included 52 metastatic lesions (42 targeted and 10 non-targeted) in 17 patients who underwent MRI before and early after TACE. Two reviewers reported ...

Developmental trends in targeted radionuclide therapy of neuroendocrine tumors

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms including carcinoids, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, pituitary tumors, medullary thyroid carcinoma and phaeochromocytomas. The symptoms and the outcome of NETs differ considerably between patients depending on several factors. By labelling tracers with a radioisotope, the tracer acts as a ...

Functional Imaging of Peritoneal Disease in Ovarian Cancer: Changes in Apparent Diffusion Coefficients Predict Biochemical Response to Chemotherapy

Introduction: Peritoneal dissemination is the hallmark of advanced ovarian cancer and its sensitivity to platinum-based chemotherapy determines patient management and disease prognosis. Standard treatment monitoring is biochemical (Ca125) but suffers from suboptimal accuracy early in the course of therapy. Diffusion-Weighted Imaging (DWI) has shown promise in the early identification of therapy...

Value of diffusion weighted MR imaging as an early surrogate parameter for evaluation of tumor response to high-dose-rate brachytherapy of colorectal liver metastases

BACKGROUND To assess the value of diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) as an early surrogate parameter for treatment response of colorectal liver metastases to image-guided single-fraction ¹⁹²Ir-high-dose-rate brachytherapy (HDR-BT). METHODS Thirty patients with a total of 43 metastases underwent CT- or MRI-guided HDR-BT. In 13 of these patients a total of 15 additional lesions were identified, w...

Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT) in a Patient Affected by Metastatic Breast Cancer with Neuroendocrine Differentiation.

BACKGROUND Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent cancer in European women with nearly 30% of the patients eventually developing metastases. Neuroendocrine differentiation is a rare event, but overexpression of somatostatin receptors in BC has been reported in many studies. CASE REPORT A patient with liver metastases from BC was treated with peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT). Comp...
